This morning, I was joined in the garden by five wonderful ladies and my grandson, Stephen. Together we planted a truckload of plants in Simeon’s butterfly garden. What would have taken me two days to accomplish was completed in less than three hours. Many hands really do make light work! What a beautiful example of the Body of Christ working together to accomplish good things! We planted a fragrant and colorful array of larval (caterpillar food) plants and nectar (butterfly) plants for our crawling and winged friends. In fact, just as we finished watering in the last plant, a butterfly came by to inspect and sample our handiwork. Here’s a before and after gallery for you to enjoy:

Is there like an aerial view or map available to see how this is all laid out? I think that would be interesting to see also.

I can see an aerial view with Google Earth. However, I have never physically been to Glory of Zion, therefore I do not know exactly where to find it except I type in the address that’s on Glory’s web page!

What a wonderful transformation in a couple of hours! It will be fun to see everything blooming and what butterflies visit the garden. Enjoyed playing in the dirt with everyone. Blessings!

Excellent start on the garden. I would LOVE to be there to work on it too! I wonder, though, if there is room for the yearly addition of amendments, rich soils, compost, etc., necessary in Texas? I say this because there seems to be only a few inches of brick border above the ground.

Very observant of you! Not to worry, though. The soil in Simeon’s butterfly garden is a freshly mixed combination of sandy loam and compost, so it will continue to settle and decompose in plenty of time for us to add more goodies next spring.

Yes, many hands does make work light – this is what I continue to chant to my kids while we’re shoveling “fertilizer” on our garden.
