“For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell.”
Song of Solomon 2:11-13
Hopefully, the rain is not over and gone–this is Texas, after all! But the flowers are blooming in abundance, the birds are singing with a new sweetness, and Ephraim’s fig tree is swelling with buds. Warmer and longer days beckon us to the garden with new projects and plantings. We have even put the chickens to work, tilling up the ground around the potting shed in anticipation of landscaping the space.
Ed and Klancy Cunningham spent two days in the garden this week, positioning and hanging the beautiful birdhouses Ed built. Thankfully, Jesus was available to climb the ladder! In addition to two birdhouses in the Israel Prayer Garden, Ed also built several more houses and an owl nesting box for the Gentile Garden. We may not have turtledoves, but we do share our garden space with Eastern Bluebirds, wrens, robins, and a host of other feathered friends. Thank you, Ed and Klancy!
Earlier this year, Candi MacAlpine of Destiny Training Center sent us a beautiful Ten Commandments tablet. This new Torah tablet is a 30-pound granite stone quarried from the geographical center of California in Raymond. Candi presented this as a gift from Destiny and the Heart of California to the Israel Prayer Garden This week, Jesus removed the temporary Torah tablet and created branched arms to hold the new granite tablet. Thank you, Candi, for this incredible representation of covenant in the Garden.
As spring continues its welcome approach, our labors of love in the garden increase and intensify. Every morning, new flowers and foliage welcome us. And every morning, we hear and understand the last part of Song of Solomon 2:13: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away!” God’s loving kindness is so easy to receive in the Garden!
Shabbat Shalom,
Pam

Oh yeah Pam. All of the flowers are so welcoming. I love the idea of chickens digging up the ground. They definitely have a top of the line portable “condominium”.
Just seeing the new buds and flowers bursting forth, makes my heart sing. thank you for the pictures.
I love the herb garden. (and the community gardens are stepping forward with great potential.) Thank you all for your continued labor of love. Your testimony is so strong and such a powerful witness of the strength and renewal of our God. Maria

Hi Pam love this garden and the new house. Are you all able to grow peonies? I am a Texas Master Gardner and Texas Rainwaterharvester. do you all have a rainwater collection system for the coming drought this summer? With all this blessed rain it will be a welcome provision.

Hi Cynthia,
Thanks for visiting! We don’t have peonies in the garden, but I am trying some for the first time in my home garden this year. We do have about 400 gallons worth of rain barrel capacity right now but will be adding more as time and provision allow! In what county are you a master gardener?

Well, the first day of Spring was nit quite as pleasant here in Spokane, WA. I woke up to a fresh new snow. Just not what I wanted to see for the first day of Spring. However, reading about your garden has brought hope. Would love to visit your beautiful garden of Love.
Thank you for this wonderful garden.
Lovingly,
Joyce Parker
